Privacy Policy
What this website collects, why, where it goes, and how to ask us to delete it. The short version: very little, and we never sell it.
Effective October 14, 2026
Who we are
This policy covers joviandesign.com, run by Jovian Design, LLC, a small design studio in the Greenville (Simpsonville area), South Carolina, USA. “We” and “us” mean the studio. If you have a question about your information, write to hello@joviandesign.com and a person will answer.
What we collect
- Contact and intake form. When you send the form, we receive what you type: your name, email, phone number, organization and message.
- Your request list. If you add consulting packages to a request list and send it, the list of packages travels with your message. Until you send it, the list stays in your own browser.
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are visited and how people get around the site. It records things like pages viewed, approximate location (city or region level), device and browser type, and how you arrived. Google sets its own cookies to do this.
- Server logs. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider automatically keeps standard logs of requests to the server, including IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These are used for security and keeping the site running.
- Games and leaderboards. If you choose to post to an arcade leaderboard, we store the nickname you pick, your score, the time, and basic game progress needed to rank you. To limit cheating and spam, the server also keeps salted, one-way scrambled versions of your session and IP address for about a day. The leaderboards are public. Please don’t use your real name or anything personal as a nickname.
What we don’t collect
- No payment details. Nothing is sold or billed through this website. Invoices are handled separately, after a written agreement.
- No selling, renting or trading of your information, ever.
- No advertising networks, ad pixels or cross-site ad tracking. Google Analytics is the only third-party measurement tool on the site.
- No accounts or passwords for visitors.
How we use it
We use what you send us to reply to you, schedule the free first call, prepare an estimate and do the work you ask for. We use Analytics and server logs to understand which pages are useful, fix problems, and protect the site from abuse. Leaderboard entries are used to show the leaderboard. We don’t use your information for anything else without asking.
Where it goes
- Form messages are sent by email to the studio’s inbox. They aren’t saved in a database on our web server.
- Analytics data goes to Google, which processes it under its own privacy policy.
- Server logs and leaderboard entries live with our hosting provider, which stores them on our behalf.
If a project needs a trusted contractor, we share only what they need to do their part, and they’re held to the same rules. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep email conversations for as long as they’re useful for an inquiry or project and for ordinary business and tax records, then delete them. Analytics data is kept by Google according to the data-retention setting in our Analytics account. Server logs rotate on the hosting provider’s schedule. Anti-abuse hashes are cleared after about a day, and leaderboard entries may be pruned after a period of inactivity or when a board is reset.
Cookies and browser storage
Google Analytics uses cookies. Our own site doesn’t set cookies; instead it saves a few small settings in your browser’s local storage, on your device only:
- your theme choice;
- your consulting request list, until you send or clear it;
- your “hide controls” preference;
- for some games, your saved progress, sound setting and leaderboard nickname.
We can’t see these settings unless you send them to us. You can clear them at any time through your browser’s settings.
Client research data
This site is not where research happens. Our rule: raw research data from client projects, such as interview recordings, notes and participant details, never leaves the client. It stays in the client’s own systems under the client’s own policies, and what comes back to us is limited to what the project agreement allows.
Children
The site, including the games, is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Your choices
- Ask us to see or delete your information. Email hello@joviandesign.com and we’ll tell you what we have and delete it, unless we have to keep something for legal or tax reasons. You can also ask us to remove a leaderboard nickname.
- Block Analytics. Use a browser or extension that blocks trackers, or Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works normally without it.
- Clear local settings. Clearing your browser’s site data removes the theme, request list and other saved preferences.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, so what you send is encrypted on the way. Form submissions are emailed and not stored on the web server. No system is perfectly secure, so please don’t send passwords, health information or other sensitive details through the contact form. If a project needs to share something sensitive, we’ll agree on a safer way to do it.
Country restrictions
The studio is based in the United States, and the site is run from there. Access to the site may be restricted or blocked from some countries, for security or legal reasons.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we’ll update this page and the effective date above. We won’t start using information you already gave us in a new way without telling you.
